Questions about scope and preparation
These answers explain the purpose of the work, how the disciplines connect and what information helps frame a useful commercial brief.
Section 01
The work and its boundaries
-
Who is the work for?
Raisecove’s focus is private-market firms seeking a more deliberate commercial process, including commercial lenders, specialty finance firms and buy-side teams. The relevant starting point is a defined market or relationship objective: identifying businesses, developing relevant conversations or improving how commercial work is recorded and passed between people.
-
What does proprietary origination mean in this context?
It means research and relationship development shaped around a client’s own borrower or acquisition criteria. The work connects a specific brief to target identification, relevant outreach and qualified handoff. The term does not imply that a business is exclusively available, that an owner intends to sell or that a borrower meets a lender’s approval requirements.
-
How do the three service pillars differ?
Demand generation concerns which businesses to reach and how to open relevant conversations. Revenue operations concerns the records, responsibilities and reporting that support those conversations. Process advisory examines the decisions and handoffs connecting the work. A scope can draw on more than one pillar where the commercial problem crosses those boundaries.
-
Does Raisecove provide finance or execute transactions?
No. Raisecove’s remit is revenue advisory, research, business development and commercial process improvement. We do not lend, make investment decisions, provide brokerage or valuation, negotiate transactions or execute them. Clients and their appointed advisers retain responsibility for those activities and for assessing any business introduced through the origination process.
Section 02
Qualification and client participation
-
What makes a handoff qualified?
Qualification is defined against the client’s brief and the decision the receiving team needs to make. A useful handoff explains fit, the evidence supporting it, the substance of any conversation and the questions that remain. It also names the intended next decision. Qualification for a handoff does not substitute for credit assessment, investment appraisal or transaction diligence.
-
What does the client need to contribute?
The client supplies the commercial objective, target criteria, exclusions and relevant relationship context. It also identifies who can approve changes, resolve uncertain cases and receive handoffs. Feedback on accepted and returned records is important: without it, research and qualification can continue applying rules that no longer match the receiving team’s needs.
-
How should progress be assessed?
Review activity alongside the quality and disposition of the work. Research volume or reply counts can show effort, while fit rationale, conversation substance and handoff feedback show whether the process is producing useful context. Use consistent definitions and comparable groups of records. Keep later lending, investment and transaction outcomes distinct from origination activity.
Section 03
Preparing a useful starting point
-
What should an initial inquiry include?
Describe your firm, the types of businesses you want to reach and the part of the process that needs attention. Explain the decision you want better information to support, any important exclusions and which internal team would receive the work. Keep confidential borrower details and acquisition information out of the initial inquiry; a high-level description is enough to frame the subject.
-
What determines the engagement scope?
The scope depends on the commercial question, the quality of existing information and the stage where support is needed. Useful deliverables might include a research framework, an outreach approach, qualification requirements or a review process. Responsibilities and commercial terms are matters for the agreed engagement; a service description alone does not establish a delivery schedule or outcome commitment.
-
Can the resources be used before an inquiry?
Yes. The process overview, working templates and planning worksheet are designed to help you clarify a brief and inspect an existing workflow. The worksheet is local to the page: its fields are not submitted or saved, and reloading clears them. You can use the prompts to prepare a concise, nonconfidential description of the issue you want to discuss.
